in geometry wf mechanik
art project: philipp messner
the addition of new attached volumes for the wf mechanic building was the main idea of this project. by using these elements, the existing building acquires a new appearance without changing its structure. To underline the existing structure, it was covered with a rough white plaster. Two glass cubes placed in the ground floor sprout from the façade, whereas a black metal cube grows out from the upper floor, in contrast with the existing façade. Two green-covered stripes visually elongate the glass volumes and limit the slightly sloped building entrance space. Indoors a free floorplan, a play of materials and views towards the surrounding landscape. External materials are also present inside: rough white plastering, black ceilings, oak pavements, wooden furniture and steel window frames create a field of chromatic tension.
