in concrete zemmer winery
the task was to create a new room within an existing cellar, a vault for special vintages, placed in the center of the cellar. existing concrete vaults were cut in order to open a gallery. existing tiles, which have been soaked in wine over long period of time, shimmer in various color shades going from bluish red to deep black. a stainless steel grating floats above the existing elements, creating a new pathway through the old barrels. black shelves for wine were placed in the niches along the way. dimmed lighting and black lacquered walls are meant to make the wines stand out.
