traditional löwengrube restaurant
the 1543 restaurant facade remains unchanged, only the entrance door is substituted with a steel and glass box serving both as a filter between outside and inside and as a climate control device for wine exposure. the character of the old spaces remains -a new spatial concept is created by making old and new dialogue. working with antique walls, thoughtfully placing and restoring. detached volumes are placed freely inside the spaces: the large bar counter, the wine exposure rack, the restrooms and the back office volumes. above the stone stair leading to the lower levels a new steel stair has been placed which, unrolling, creates a link between old and new.
