wood works rubner house office building
with baukraft architektur
new headquarters for the rubner group, a company that has been working on various uses of wood in areas of construction for decades. the monolithic corpus, cased in black three-layer slabs of larch, features a rhythmic outer layer due to the overhanging notches in the façade. the chrome-framed windows offer views and insights, breaking up the stern outer appearance of the functional structure with their irregular and dysfunctional placement. the existing structure and an edge in the terrain lead to split-level construction. working with materials: on the inside, spit-coated spruce slabs. playing with contrasts as part of the whole concept: outside vs. inside, dark vs. light, opaque vs. shiny, massive vs. fragile.
