back to the future parkhotel holzner
art project: manfred alois mayr
„the aesthetics of the holzner hotel as an alpine art-nouveau building are now timeless“. It has always been our intention to build on this quote. The core of the project is in the historic building, whereas the new extension remains in the background, adding value to the existing. The old building and the new interventions nurture each other and grow together. Selected materials and clear design are the linking elements troughout the interior, creating an homogenous image. The roof extension and the conversion of the tower into a small observatory are key components of the renovation, part of a research towards an architecture without time blending past and present. The roofs have been renovated to their original state and their image reinforced by the new tower. The center is recognizable again. A small extension attached to the north facade houses the restaurant and features two large facade openings with movable steel sunshades.
